The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

धारणा यस्य नाभ्यासं प्राप्ता नैव च युक्तिमान् ।
मूर्खः स्वमृतिकालेऽसौ दुःखमेत्यवशाशयः ॥ ३७ ॥

dhāraṇā yasya nābhyāsaṃ prāptā naiva ca yuktimān |
mūrkhaḥ svamṛtikāle'sau duḥkhametyavaśāśayaḥ || 37 ||

He who has not practiced the dharana yoga, nor applied himself to reasoning, nor has certain hopes of the future, is called the ignorant sot, and meets with the pain and pangs of death.
