223,437 words | ISBN-10: 8171101519

The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 3.10.26

तेन योगी सुषुप्तात्मा व्यवहार्यपि शान्तधीः ।
आस्ते ब्रह्म निराभासं सर्वाभाससमुद्गकः ॥ २६ ॥

tena yogī suṣuptātmā vyavahāryapi śāntadhīḥ |
āste brahma nirābhāsaṃ sarvābhāsasamudgakaḥ || 26 ||

Therefore the Yogi, though leading a secular life, remains somnolent (Susupta) in his soul, and tranquil (Santa) in his mind. He lives like Brahma unknown to and unnoticed by others, and though knowing all and full of thoughts in himself, he is as a treasury of Knowledge, unknown to the rest of mankind.
