The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 1.22.24

जराजह्नुसुतोद्युक्ता मूलान्यस्य निकृन्तति ।
शरीरतीरवृक्षस्य चलत्यायुषि सत्वरम् ॥ २४ ॥

jarājahnusutodyuktā mūlānyasya nikṛntati |
śarīratīravṛkṣasya calatyāyuṣi satvaram || 24 ||

As the Ganges upsets a neighbouring tree by its rapid course, so does old age destroy the body, as the current of our life runs fast to decay.
