Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. संवत्सरः किंचिदूनो न निष्क्रान्ताहमाश्रमात् ।
वनं कुसुमितं द्रष्टुं परं कौतूहलं हि मे ॥ २६ ॥

saṃvatsaraḥ kiṃcidūno na niṣkrāntāhamāśramāt |
vanaṃ kusumitaṃ draṣṭuṃ paraṃ kautūhalaṃ hi me || 26 ||
