Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. स निष्पत्य ददौ युद्धं तेभ्यो राजा महाबलः ।
देवासुरसमं घोरं दिवोदासो महाद्युतिः ॥ २० ॥

sa niṣpatya dadau yuddhaṃ tebhyo rājā mahābalaḥ |
devāsurasamaṃ ghoraṃ divodāso mahādyutiḥ || 20 ||
