Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. भीष्म उवाच ।
इति परममतिर्गुणाननेकाञ्शिलरतये त्रिपथानुयोगरूपान् ।
बहुविधमनुशास्य तथ्यरूपान्गगनतलं द्युतिमान्विवेश सिद्धः ॥ १०१ ॥

iti paramamatirguṇānanekāñśilarataye tripathānuyogarūpān |
