Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. मेदानां पुल्कसानां च तथैवान्तावसायिनाम् ।
कृतं कर्माकृतं चापि रागमोहेन जल्पताम् ॥ २२ ॥

kṛtaṃ karmākṛtaṃ cāpi rāgamohena jalpatām || 22 ||
