Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. वपन्व्रणे क्षारमिव क्षतानां शत्रुकर्शन ।
विदीर्यते मे हृदयं त्वया वाक्शल्यपीडितम् ॥ १५ ॥

vapanvraṇe kṣāramiva kṣatānāṃ śatrukarśana |
vidīryate me hṛdayaṃ tvayā vākśalyapīḍitam || 15 ||
