The Sanskrit edition of the Apastamba Sulba-sutra with the commentaries of Kapardin, Karavinda and Sundararaja. The Sulbasutras are considered Vedic appendices and deals with the ancient Indian science of Mathematics and Geometry, by instructing the construction of fire-altars, among others. yat pacyamānānāṃ pratihrasīta purīṣeṇa tat sampūrayed aniyataparimāṇatvāt purīṣasya || ĀpŚus_9.8 ||

pacyamānānāmiṣṭakānāmutsedhataś ca parimāṇataś ca pratihrāso bhavettatpurīṣeṇa pūrayet / kuta ityāha -- aniyataparimāṇatvātpurīṣasya -- niyataparimāṇā iṣṭakāḥ aniyataparimāṇaṃ purīṣam / iyadetatpurīṣaṃ prakṣeptavyamiti niyamābhāvāt tenaiva pūracitavyam /

sarvāsāmiṣṭakānāmūrthvāpramāṇamutsedhaṃ jānupañcamena kārayet / aṅgulyadhikāre dvātriṃśajjānuriti bodhāyanaḥ / tasya pañcamaṃ ṣaḍaṅgulayaḥ ardhacaturadaśāstilāś ca / tena saṃmitamiṣṭakānām ūrdhvapramāṇaṃ bhavati / jānudaghnaṃ cinvīta prathamaṃ cinvānaḥ, pañca citayo bhavantīti śrutyoḥsamāveśādūrdhvapramāṇe samaṃ syādaśrutatvāditi jānupañcamā iṣṭakā bhaveyuḥ / jānudviguṇā nābhiḥ / jānutriguṇamāsyam / jānudaghne sahasrā iṣṭakāḥ nābhidaghne dvisāhasrā dviprastārāś ca / āsyadaghne triṣāhasrāḥ triprastārāś ca / tatra sarvatra viśeṣāśravaṇāt jānupañcamamevordhvapramāṇamiṣṭakānām / iṣṭakānāṃ kārayediti ihānuvartamāne punarapi tayorgrahaṇaṃ gārhapatyadhiṣṇayeṣṭakānāmapi jānupañcamatvāya /

ardhena pañcacārdhenana kārayedityeva / nākasadaśvūḍopadhānamantraviśeṣāḥ / tairupadheyāḥ / pañcapaḍhceṣṭakā jānupañvramasyordhena kāryāḥ uttarā "nākasadbhaya upadadhāti' / ityekasmin prastāre tāsāmuttarādharabhāvadarśanāt / iṣṭakābhirakeva jānudaghnādisāmpādanāt, purīṣopadhānīmaṣṭakā samīkaraṇārthe citervṛddhayarthaṃ ca /

yatpacya ṣasya

karaṇaparikḷptānāṃ iṣṭakānāṃ pākavaśāt pratihrāsaḥ -- kṣaya upajāyate / tatpurīṣeṇa pūrayet, anenṣṭakā na duṣyanti avarjanīyatvāt, tasya "mitraitāṃ paceti' liṅgāt, vātātapābhyāmapi śoṣaṇaṃ pāka eva / ata eva pākavaśāddhīnamiṣṭakāyāmavistārobhayamupadhānakāle purīṣeṇa pūrayet / kutaḥ? aniyataparimāṇatvāt purīṣasya / na hyetāvat purīṣaṃ prakṣepaṇīyamiti niyamaḥ / tasmātpākavaśāddhīnasya purīṣeṇa pūraṇameva / jalārdrā mṛt purīṣaṃ / teneṣṭakānāṃ hrāsaṃ pūrayet /
