Mahavastu [sanskrit verses and english]

by Émile Senart | 1882 | 56,574 words

This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 100.49

करोमि ओकाशम् अनुग्रहाये सर्वेषां वो कामरागो प्रहीणो ।
फरेथ कायं विपुलाय प्रीतये यथा गतिं मे अभिसंभुणेथ ॥ ४९ ॥

karomi okāśam anugrahāye sarveṣāṃ vo kāmarāgo prahīṇo |
pharetha kāyaṃ vipulāya prītaye yathā gatiṃ me abhisaṃbhuṇetha || 49 ||

I will be gracious and grant you this, inasmuch as you all have won riddance of the passion for pleasures of sense. Let boundless joy pervade you so that thus you may attain unto my state. (49)
