This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 76.95

भूतपूर्वं उदायि अतीतम् अध्वानम् अभू भूमिपती ।
नामेन सत्यवर्धनो विघुष्टशब्दो धरणिपालो ॥ ९५ ॥

bhūtapūrvaṃ udāyi atītam adhvānam abhū bhūmipatī |
nāmena satyavardhano vighuṣṭaśabdo dharaṇipālo || 95 ||

Once upon a time, Udayin, long ago, there was a lord of earth, named Satyavardhana, and renowned far and wide, a protector of the world. (95)
