The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 7.123.16

विहगाश्वासतत्त्वज्ञः शाल्मलिद्वीपशाल्मलौ ।
पश्चिमः पक्षिणीनीडे क्रीडया न्यवसत्समाः ॥ १६ ॥

vihagāśvāsatattvajñaḥ śālmalidvīpaśālmalau |
paścimaḥ pakṣiṇīnīḍe krīḍayā nyavasatsamāḥ || 16 ||

Going afterwards to the Salmali-dwipa in the west, which abounds in trees of the same name, he dwelt in the society of birds for many years, having been previously instructed in their language, when he had been carried away by Garuda.
