The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

भोगाशाबद्धतृष्णानामपमानः पदे पदे ।
आलानमवलीनानां वन्यानामिव दन्तिनाम् ॥ ७७ ॥

bhogāśābaddhatṛṣṇānāmapamānaḥ pade pade |
ālānamavalīnānāṃ vanyānāmiva dantinām || 77 ||

Men who are bound to their desire of carnal enjoyment, are exposed to shame and the contumely of the rich every moment; and are as wild elephants, tied with strong fetters at their feet.
