The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 7.59.3

स्त्रीस्वभावादिव मृदु मधुरं वा निनादि वा ।
स्वल्पाङ्गत्वादनिर्ह्रादि मया तद्वाक्यमूहितम् ॥ ३ ॥

strīsvabhāvādiva mṛdu madhuraṃ vā ninādi vā |
svalpāṅgatvādanirhrādi mayā tadvākyamūhitam || 3 ||

It was as soft and sweet, as if it proceeded from female voice; and musical to the ear; and as it was neither loud nor harsh owing to its effeminacy, I kept to watch whence the words were heard.
