The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 7.26.14

यथाक्षिसंवृतिः सर्वरूपालोकशमोऽरिहन् ।
संवित्संवरणं नाम सर्वदृश्यशमस्तथा ॥ १४ ॥

yathākṣisaṃvṛtiḥ sarvarūpālokaśamo'rihan |
saṃvitsaṃvaraṇaṃ nāma sarvadṛśyaśamastathā || 14 ||

And as the shutting of the eyelids, shuts out the view of the visible objects from sight; so, O destroyer of enemies, the closing of consciousness, puts out the appearance of all sights and thoughts from your eyes and mind.
