The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 7.25.19

अन्योन्यानुभवो ह्यैक्यमैक्यं त्वन्योन्यवेदनम् ।
यथाम्भसोः क्षीरयोर्वा न काष्ठजतुनोरिव ॥ १९ ॥

anyonyānubhavo hyaikyamaikyaṃ tvanyonyavedanam |
yathāmbhasoḥ kṣīrayorvā na kāṣṭhajatunoriva || 19 ||

The idea of reciprocity is unity, and the knowledge of mutuality is union also; such as the interchange of water and milk, and so the correlation of vision and visibles; and not as the union of the wood and lac-dye with one another. (This means unity to consist in the interchangeableness and interdependence of two things as of the spirit and matter, and not as sticking the lac-dye upon wood, but as fire inhering in every particle of the wood, as it is expressed in the aforecited sruti):—
