The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

मङ्किर्नामाभवत्पूर्वं ब्राह्मणः संशितव्रतः ।
स कथं श्रृणु निर्वाणमाप्तवान्मद्विबोधितः ॥ २ ॥

maṅkirnāmābhavatpūrvaṃ brāhmaṇaḥ saṃśitavrataḥ |
sa kathaṃ śrṛṇu nirvāṇamāptavānmadvibodhitaḥ || 2 ||

There lived once on a time before a Brahman named Manki, who was applauded for his devotion and steadfastness to holy vows.
