The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 6.50.15

कलनोन्मुखतां यातमन्तर्जीव इति स्मृतः ।
स जीवः खलु देहेऽस्मिंश्चिनोति स्पन्दते स्फुटम् ॥ १५ ॥

kalanonmukhatāṃ yātamantarjīva iti smṛtaḥ |
sa jīvaḥ khalu dehe'smiṃścinoti spandate sphuṭam || 15 ||

The same being disposed to its desires, becomes the living soul; and this being desirous of collecting all its desires and the parts of the body together, becomes the palpitating heart in the midst of it.
