The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

अथ संकल्पयामास स्वसंकल्पनयैव सः ।
वृक्षाग्रमेव संशुद्धं स्थितिस्तत्रोचिता मम ॥ ३३ ॥

atha saṃkalpayāmāsa svasaṃkalpanayaiva saḥ |
vṛkṣāgrameva saṃśuddhaṃ sthitistatrocitā mama || 33 ||

Therefore he made a vow of his own accord, to take his seat on the branch of a tree, which was untainted with the pollution of the earth.
