The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

एक एव वसन्देशे जनशून्ये जनेश्वर ।
न हसत्येकया बुद्ध्या न गायति न रोदिति ॥ २३ ॥

eka eva vasandeśe janaśūnye janeśvara |
na hasatyekayā buddhyā na gāyati na roditi || 23 ||

He lives alone, Oh lord of men! in a lonely place, and neither laughs nor sings nor cries aloud from a sense of their indifference to him.
