The English translation of the Sri Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu verse 3.1.11; a medieval era Sanskrit book, written by Rupa Goswami (fl. 15th century) which represents a devotional (bhakti) masterpiece. In this work Goswami describes the nature and different forms of pure love (rasa) as well as various other topics on Vaishnavism and devotion.

अथ शान्ताः —
शान्ताः स्युः कृष्ण-तत्-प्रेष्ठ-कारुण्येन रतिं गताः ।
आत्मारामास् तदीयाध्व-बद्ध-श्रद्धाश् च तापसाः ॥३.१.११॥atha śāntāḥ —
śāntāḥ syuḥ kṛṣṇa-tat-preṣṭha-kāruṇyena ratiṃ gatāḥ |
ātmārāmās tadīyādhva-baddha-śraddhāś ca tāpasāḥ ||3.1.11||
English translation
“The śānta-bhaktas are of two types: the ātmārāmas who have attained rati for Kṛṣṇa due to the mercy of Kṛṣṇa and His dear devotees, and the performers of austerities who have developed firm faith in the path of bhakti (also by the mercy of the devotees).”
