Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. अनीर्ष्युर्गुप्तदारः स्यात्संविभागी प्रियंवदः ।
श्लक्ष्णो मधुरवाक्स्त्रीणां न चासां वशगो भवेत् ॥ १० ॥

anīrṣyurguptadāraḥ syātsaṃvibhāgī priyaṃvadaḥ |
ślakṣṇo madhuravākstrīṇāṃ na cāsāṃ vaśago bhavet || 10 ||
