Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. चरुं नरेन्द्र सप्तार्चेर्यथाशक्ति निवेदयेत् ।
पितॄणामक्षयं दानं प्रवदन्ति मनीषिणः ॥ १०६ ॥

caruṃ narendra saptārceryathāśakti nivedayet |
pitṝṇāmakṣayaṃ dānaṃ pravadanti manīṣiṇaḥ || 106 ||
