The Garga-samhita Verse 6.19.34, English translation, including word-by-word: This text represents a Vaishnava scripture which narrates the life Krishna, It was composed in seventeen cantos by Garga Muni: an ancient sage and priest of the Yadu dynasty having. This is verse 6 of Chapter 19 (In the First Fortress of Dvaraka, the Glories of Lila-sarovara, Hari-mandira, Jnana-tirtha, Krishna-kunda, Balabhadra-sarah, Ganesha-tirtha, Dana-sthala, and Maya-tirtha) of Canto 6 (dvaraka-khanda).

Sanskrit text, transliteration and word-by-word meaning:

रथ-दानात् परं राजन्
भूमि-दानं विशिश्यते
भूमि-दानाद् अन्न-दानं
महा-दानं प्रकथ्यते

ratha-dānāt paraṃ rājan
bhūmi-dānaṃ viśiśyate
bhūmi-dānād anna-dānaṃ
mahā-dānaṃ prakathyate

ratha-dānāt—than giving a chariot; param—better; rājanO king; bhūmi- dānamgiving land; viśiśyate—is better; bhūmi-dānāt—than giving land; anna- dānam—giving food; mahā-dānam—great charity; prakathyate—is said.

English translation of verse 6.19.34:

O king, giving land is better than giving a chariot, and giving food is better than giving land. Giving food is said be be great charity.
