सर्वेशां चैव दानानां
अश्व-दानं परं स्मृतम्
अश्व-दानाद् गजस्यापि
गज-दानाद् रथस्य च

sarveśāṃ caiva dānānāṃ
aśva-dānaṃ paraṃ smṛtam
aśva-dānād gajasyāpi
gaja-dānād rathasya ca

English translation of verse 6.19.33:

Giving a horse in charity is great charity. Still, giving an elephant is better than giving a horse and giving a chariot is better than giving an elephant.
