The Garga-samhita Verse 2.14.23, English translation, including word-by-word: This text represents a Vaishnava scripture which narrates the life Krishna, It was composed in seventeen cantos by Garga Muni: an ancient sage and priest of the Yadu dynasty having. This is verse 2 of Chapter 14 (Description of Kaliya’s Story) of Canto 2 (vrindavana-khanda).

आसीत् पुरा मुनिः सिद्धः
शौभरिर् नाम नामतः
वृन्दारण्ये तपस् तप्तो
वर्षाणाम् अयुतं जले

āsīt purā muniḥ siddhaḥ
śaubharir nāma nāmataḥ
vṛndāraṇye tapas tapto
varṣāṇām ayutaṃ jale

āsīt—was; purābefore; muniḥa sage; siddhaḥperfect; śaubhariḥ—Śaubhari; nāmanamed; nāmataḥ—named; vṛndāraṇye—in Vṛndāvana; tapas taptaḥ—performed austerities; varṣāṇām—years; ayutam—ten thousand; jale—in the water.

English translation of verse 2.14.23:

In ancient times there was a perfect sage named Śaurabhi Muni who performed austerities for ten thousand years in the waters in Vṛndāvana.
