श्री-हरिर् उवाच
वरं वृणीत यूयं वै
यन् मनो-वाञ्छितं महत्
येषां प्रसन्नो ऽहं साक्षात्
तेषां किं दुर्लभं भुवि

śrī-harir uvāca
varaṃ vṛṇīta yūyaṃ vai
yan mano-vāñchitaṃ mahat
yeṣāṃ prasanno 'haṃ sākṣāt
teṣāṃ kiṃ durlabhaṃ bhuvi

śrī-hariḥ uvāca—Śrī Hari said; varama benediction; vṛṇīta—choose; yūyam—you; vai—certainly; yat—what; manaḥby the heart; vāñchitam—is desired; mahatgreat; yeṣām—by whom; prasannaḥ—pleased; aham—I am; sākṣātdirectly; teṣām—of them; kim—what?; durlabham—difficult to attain; bhuvi—on the earth.

English translation of verse 1.4.20:

Śrī Hari said: Choose a benediction, whatever your heart desires. What is difficult to attain for they with whom I am pleased?
