This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.
Verse 67.27
सचेद् राजकुले पिण्डं ब्राह्मण भोक्तुम् इच्छसि ।
तम् एव दानि भुंजाहि किम् अलिन्दाय काहिसि ॥ २७ ॥
saced rājakule piṇḍaṃ brāhmaṇa bhoktum icchasi |
tam eva dāni bhuṃjāhi kim alindāya kāhisi || 27 ||
“If, O brahman, you wish to eat bread in the king’s palace, you can enjoy this now. What will you do with Alinda?” (27)
