This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 67.28

mā bhavān rājā ikṣvāku dattaṃ samanutapyaye |
priyaṃ yadi pravāretvā paścāt samanutapyasi |
āmantremi ca gacchāmi yaṃ na desi nimantritaṃ || 28 ||

“Lord, let not King Ikshvaku repent of his proffered gift. If, after offering a boon, you then regret it, I’ll go and tell men that you do not give what you have offered.” (28)
