This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 2.51

तत्र पापसमाचारा ओरुद्धा जनता बहु ।
पच्यन्ति पापकर्मान्ता ये भोन्ति कृतकिल्विषाः ॥ ५१ ॥

tatra pāpasamācārā oruddhā janatā bahu |
pacyanti pāpakarmāntā ye bhonti kṛtakilviṣāḥ || 51 ||

Imprisoned here are many men of wicked conduct. Evildoers who have sinned are here roasted. (51)
