The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

अपूर्वत्वात्स्मृतिः स्वप्नः संकल्पार्थानुभूतिषु ।
स्वमृत्यनुभवाद्यास्तु दृष्टार्थसदृशीषु च ॥ १२ ॥

apūrvatvātsmṛtiḥ svapnaḥ saṃkalpārthānubhūtiṣu |
svamṛtyanubhavādyāstu dṛṣṭārthasadṛśīṣu ca || 12 ||

The remembrance of a thing, is the cause of its dream by night, as the desire of something causes its conception in the mind; and as the apprehension of one's death, proceeds from his seeing in the instances of others.
