Yoga Vasistha [sanskrit]

223,437 words | ISBN-10: 8171101519

The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 7.105.5

न जाग्रति न च स्वप्ने जगच्छब्दार्थसंभवः ।
स्वं वस्तुतस्तु चिद्व्योम्नो भानं बुद्धं जगत्तया ॥ ५ ॥

na jāgrati na ca svapne jagacchabdārthasaṃbhavaḥ |
svaṃ vastutastu cidvyomno bhānaṃ buddhaṃ jagattayā || 5 ||

Whether in waking or sleeping, there is nothing named as the world (or the turning sphere); it is but the empty void, and at best but an air-drawn picture in the hollow of the Intellects.
