The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

पङ्कजानि सरन्ध्राणि सुदुर्लक्ष्यगुणानि च ।
ग्रन्थिमन्ति जडाङ्गानि मृणालानीन्द्रियाणि च ॥ ४९ ॥

paṅkajāni sarandhrāṇi sudurlakṣyaguṇāni ca |
granthimanti jaḍāṅgāni mṛṇālānīndriyāṇi ca || 49 ||

The organs of the outward senses resemble the stalks of lotuses, growing upon the dirt of the body with holes in them, but without any visible thread therein. They are knotty on the outside, and without any sensibility of their own;
