The English translation of the Sri Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu verse 4.6.10; a medieval era Sanskrit book, written by Rupa Goswami (fl. 15th century) which represents a devotional (bhakti) masterpiece. In this work Goswami describes the nature and different forms of pure love (rasa) as well as various other topics on Vaishnavism and devotion.

विभावस्य भ्रू-कुट्य्-आद्यास् तस्मिन्न् उद्दीपना मताः ।
मुख-शोषणम् उच्छ्वासः परावृत्य विलोकनम् ॥४.६.९॥
स्व-सङ्गोपनम् उद्घूर्णा शरणान्वेषणं तथा ।
क्रोशनाद्याः क्रियाश् चात्र सात्त्विकाश् चाश्रु-वर्जिताः ॥४.६.१०॥

vibhāvasya bhrū-kuṭy-ādyās tasminn uddīpanā matāḥ |
mukha-śoṣaṇam ucchvāsaḥ parāvṛtya vilokanam
||4.6.9||
sva-saṅgopanam udghūrṇā śaraṇānveṣaṇaṃ tathā |
krośanādyāḥ kriyāś cātra sāttvikāś cāśru-varjitāḥ
||4.6.10||

English translation

“The uddīpanas for bhayānaka-rasa are frowns and other threats in the objects of fear. The anubhāvas are drying of the face, heavy breathing, looking backwards, hiding oneself, becoming unsteady, looking for shelter
and shouting. All the sāttvika-bhāvas except tears appear in bhayānaka-rasa.”
