The English translation of the Sri Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu verse 2.3.2; a medieval era Sanskrit book, written by Rupa Goswami (fl. 15th century) which represents a devotional (bhakti) masterpiece. In this work Goswami describes the nature and different forms of pure love (rasa) as well as various other topics on Vaishnavism and devotion.

सत्त्वाद् अस्मात् समुत्पन्ना ये ये भावास् ते तु सात्त्विकाः ।
स्निग्धा दिग्धास् तथा रुक्षा इत्य् अमी त्रिविधा मताः ॥२.३.२॥sattvād asmāt samutpannā ye ye bhāvās te tu sāttvikāḥ |
snigdhā digdhās tathā rukṣā ity amī trividhā matāḥ ||2.3.2||
English translation
“The transformations that arise solely from this sattva are called sāttvika-bhāvas. There are three types of sāttvika-bhāvas: snigdha (affectionate, arising from genuine rati), digdha (tainted, arising from other emotions) and rukṣa (contaminated, arising in a person without rati).”
