The English translation of the Sri Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu verse 2.1.248; a medieval era Sanskrit book, written by Rupa Goswami (fl. 15th century) which represents a devotional (bhakti) masterpiece. In this work Goswami describes the nature and different forms of pure love (rasa) as well as various other topics on Vaishnavism and devotion.

अष्टादश-महा-दोषाः, यथा विष्णु-यामले —
मोहस् तन्द्रा भ्रमो रुक्ष-रसता काम उल्बणः ।
लोलता मद-मात्सर्ये हिंसा खेद-परिश्रमौ ॥२.१.२४७॥
असत्यं क्रोध आकाङ्क्षा आशङ्का विश्व-विभ्रमः ।
विषमत्वं परापेक्षा दोषा अष्टादशोदिताः ॥२.१.२४८॥

aṣṭādaśa-mahā-doṣāḥ, yathā viṣṇu-yāmale —
mohas tandrā bhramo rukṣa-rasatā kāma ulbaṇaḥ |
lolatā mada-mātsarye hiṃsā kheda-pariśramau ||2.1.247||
asatyaṃ krodha ākāṅkṣā āśaṅkā viśva-vibhramaḥ |
viṣamatvaṃ parāpekṣā doṣā aṣṭādaśoditāḥ
||2.1.248||

English translation

The eighteen great faults are mentioned in the Viṣṇu-yāmala:
“Bewilderment, sleep, error, material attachment without prema, material lust which brings suffering, fickleness, intoxication, envy, violence, exhaustion,

toil, lying, anger, hankering, worry, absorption in worldly affairs, prejudice and dependence on others.”
