The English translation of the Sri Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu verse 2.1.112; a medieval era Sanskrit book, written by Rupa Goswami (fl. 15th century) which represents a devotional (bhakti) masterpiece. In this work Goswami describes the nature and different forms of pure love (rasa) as well as various other topics on Vaishnavism and devotion.

यथा माघ-काव्ये (१६.२५) —
प्रतिवाचम् अदत्त केशवः शपमानाय न चेदि-भूभृते ।
अनहुङ्कुरुते घन-ध्वनिः न हि गोमायु-रुतानि केशरी ॥२.१.११२॥yathā māgha-kāvye (16.25) —
prativācam adatta keśavaḥ śapamānāya na cedi-bhūbhṛte |
anahuṅkurute ghana-dhvaniḥ na hi gomāyu-rutāni keśarī ||2.1.112||
English translation
An example from the Śiṣupāla-vadha, Māgha-kāvya [16.25]:
“Though Śiṣupāla criticized Kṛṣṇa hundreds of times, Kṛṣṇa did not give any response. Though the lion replies to the thunder, it does not pay attention to the howl of the jackal.”
