आ रु॑द्रास॒ इन्द्र॑वन्तः स॒जोष॑सो॒ हिर॑ण्यरथाः सुवि॒ताय॑ गन्तन । इ॒यं वो॑ अ॒स्मत्प्रति॑ हर्यते म॒तिस्तृ॒ष्णजे॒ न दि॒व उत्सा॑ उद॒न्यवे॑ ॥
आ रुद्रास इन्द्रवन्तः सजोषसो हिरण्यरथाः सुविताय गन्तन । इयं वो अस्मत्प्रति हर्यते मतिस्तृष्णजे न दिव उत्सा उदन्यवे ॥
ā rudrāsa indravantaḥ sajoṣaso hiraṇyarathāḥ suvitāya gantana | iyaṃ vo asmat prati haryate matis tṛṣṇaje na diva utsā udanyave ||
English translation:
“Rudras, servants of Indra, mutually kind, riding in golden cars, come to the accessible (sacrifice); this our praise is addressed to you; (come to us as you came) from heaven, (bringing) oozing water to the thirsty (Gotama) longing for moisture.”
Commentary by Sāyaṇa: Ṛgveda-bhāṣya
Lit. = this our praise is addressed to you as to the thirsty, from heaven, rushing waters to the water-wishing; the allusion is to the legend of the well brougth by the Maruts to Gotama when suffering from thirst
