Rig Veda 1.105.4

य॒ज्ञं पृ॑च्छाम्यव॒मं स तद्दू॒तो वि वो॑चति । क्व॑ ऋ॒तं पू॒र्व्यं ग॒तं कस्तद्बि॑भर्ति॒ नूत॑नो वि॒त्तं मे॑ अ॒स्य रो॑दसी ॥
यज्ञं पृच्छाम्यवमं स तद्दूतो वि वोचति । क्व ऋतं पूर्व्यं गतं कस्तद्बिभर्ति नूतनो वित्तं मे अस्य रोदसी ॥
yajñam pṛcchāmy avamaṃ sa tad dūto vi vocati | kva ṛtam pūrvyaṃ gataṃ kas tad bibharti nūtano vittam me asya rodasī ||

English translation:

“I implore the first (of the gods), the object of sacrifice, that he will become my messenger, and narrate (my condition to the other deities). Where, Agni, is your former benevolence, what new being now possesses it? Heaven and earth, be conscious of this (my affliction).”

Commentary by Sāyaṇa: Ṛgveda-bhāṣya

Agnir-vai devānām avamaḥ, the first-produced of all the gods (Aitareya Brāhmaṇa 1.1); agnir-mukham prathamo devatānām, Agni is the mouth, the first of the deities (Aitareya Brāhmaṇa 1.4)
