Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. स्वलंकृताश्च कल्याण्यः पादैरेव सहस्रशः ।
वारमुख्या महाभागं प्रत्युद्यास्यन्ति केशवम् ॥ १५ ॥

svalaṃkṛtāśca kalyāṇyaḥ pādaireva sahasraśaḥ |
vāramukhyā mahābhāgaṃ pratyudyāsyanti keśavam || 15 ||
