Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. स्वप्तुकामो न लभते स्वप्तुं कार्यार्थिभिर्जनैः ।
शयने चाप्यनुज्ञातः सुप्त उत्थाप्यतेऽवशः ॥ १४१ ॥
