Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. प्राप्य पुण्यकृतांल्लोकानप्सरोभिः समेयिवान् ।
सौभद्र विहरन्काले स्मरेथाः सुकृतानि मे ॥ २५ ॥

prāpya puṇyakṛtāṃllokānapsarobhiḥ sameyivān |
saubhadra viharankāle smarethāḥ sukṛtāni me || 25 ||
