Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. तस्मादनर्हमश्लीलमप्रियं द्रौणिमुक्तवान् ।
मान्यमाचार्यतनयं रूक्षं कापुरुषो यथा ॥ १२ ॥
