हुङ्कारेणैव शस्त्राणि
तेषां हस्तेभ्य आभयात्
पेतुर् अम्र-फलानीव
दण्ड-घातैश् च मैथिल

huṅkāreṇaiva śastrāṇi
teṣāṃ hastebhya ābhayāt
petur amra-phalānīva
daṇḍa-ghātaiś ca maithila

huṅkāreṇa—by the roar; eva—indeed; śastrāṇi—the eapons; teṣām—of them; hastebhya—from the hands; ābhayāt—out of fear; petuḥ—fell; amra-phalāni—mangoes; iva—like; daṇḍa-ghātaiḥ—with a stick; ca—and; maithilaO king of Mithilā.

English translation of verse 5.8.39:

The brothers were terrified by that roar. Their weapons suddenly fell, as mangoes fall when hit by a stick.
