श्री-नारद उवाच
जालन्धरीणां गोपीनां
जन्मानि शृणु मैथिल
कर्माणि च महा-राज
पाप-घ्नानि नृणां सदा

śrī-nārada uvāca
jālandharīṇāṃ gopīnāṃ
janmāni śṛṇu maithila
karmāṇi ca mahā-rāja
pāpa-ghnāni nṛṇāṃ sadā

śrī-nārada uvāca—Śrī Nārada said; jālandharīṇām—ja;andharais; gopīnām—gopī; janmāni—births; śṛṇu—please hear; maithilaO king of Mithilā; karmāṇi—activities; ca—and; mahā-rājaO great king; pāpa-ghnāni—destriying sins; nṛṇām—of the people; sadāalways.

English translation of verse 4.14.1:

Śrī Nārada said: O king of Mithilā, please hear the story of the births and deeds of the Jālandharīs that became gopīs, a story that again and again removes the people's sins.
