उन्मत्तवद् वृक्ष-लता-कदम्बकं
सर्वा मिलित्वा च पृथग् वने वने
पप्रच्छुर् आरान् नृप नन्द-नन्दनं
कुत्र स्थितं तं वदताशु भूरुहाः
unmattavad vṛkṣa-latā-kadambakaṃ
sarvā militvā ca pṛthag vane vane
papracchur ārān nṛpa nanda-nandanaṃ
kutra sthitaṃ taṃ vadatāśu bhūruhāḥ
unmatta—mad; vat—like; vṛkṣa—trees; latā—and vines; kadambakam—many; sarvā—all; militvā—meeting; ca—and; pṛthag—specififc; vane vane—forest after forest; papracchuḥ—asked; ārāt—nearby; nṛpa—O king; nanda-nandanam—the son of Nanda; kutra—where; sthitam—situated; tam—Him; vadata—please tell; āśu—at once; bhūruhāḥ—O trees.
English translation of verse 2.21.13:
O king, in forest after forest they approached the trees and vines and asked, as if they had become mad, "Where is the son of Nanda? O trees and plants, please tell us."
