The Garga-samhita Verse 1.9.6, English translation, including word-by-word: This text represents a Vaishnava scripture which narrates the life Krishna, It was composed in seventeen cantos by Garga Muni: an ancient sage and priest of the Yadu dynasty having. This is verse 1 of Chapter 9 (Description of Vasudeva’s Wedding) of Canto 1 (goloka-khanda).

दत्त्वाशिषं गर्ग-मुनिर् नृपाय वै
पप्रच्छ सर्वं कुशलं नृपादिषु
श्री-देवकं प्राह महा-मना ऋषिर्

dattvāśiṣaṃ garga-munir nṛpāya vai
papraccha sarvaṃ kuśalaṃ nṛpādiṣu
śrī-devakaṃ prāha mahā-manā ṛṣir

महौजसं नीति-विदं यदूत्तमम्

mahaujasaṃ nīti-vidaṃ yadūttamam

dattvāgiving; āśiṣam—benediction; garga-muniḥGarga Muni; nṛpāya—to the king; vai—certainly; papraccha—asked; sarvam—all; kuśalam—welfare; nṛpa-ādiṣu—beginning with the king; śrī-devakam—Śrī Devaka; prāha—said; mahā-manāthe great soul; ṛṣiḥ—the sage; mahaujasam—very powerful; nīti-vidam—wise; yadūttamam—the best of the Yadus.

English translation of verse 1.9.6:

Garga Muni blessed the king and asked about the welfare of the king and his associates. Then the saintly sage spoke to powerful and wise Śrī Devaka, the best of the Yādavas.
