The Brihad-bhagavatamrita Verse 1.6.43, English translation, including commentary (Dig-darshini-tika): an important Vaishnava text dealing with the importance of devotional service. The Brihad-bhagavatamrita, although an indepent Sanskrit work, covers the essential teachings of the Shrimad Bhagavatam (Bhagavata-purana). This is verse 1.6.43 contained in Chapter 6—Priyatama (the most beloved devotees)—of Part one (prathama-khanda).

Sanskrit text, Unicode transliteration, Word-for-word and English translation of verse 1.6.43:

पद्मावत्य् उवाच—
अहो बताच्युतस् तेषां गोपानाम् अकृपावताम् ।
आबाल्यात् कण्टकारण्ये पालयामास गो-गणान् ॥ ४३ ॥

padmāvaty uvāca
aho batācyutas teṣāṃ gopānām akṛpāvatām |
ābālyāt kaṇṭakāraṇye pālayāmāsa go-gaṇān || 43 ||

Padmāvatī said: Alas, such a revolting thing, from childhood Śrī Kṛṣṇa Himself remained to graze the cows of those heartless gopas in the thorny forests.

Commentary: Dig-darśinī-ṭīkā with Bhāvānuvāda

(By Śrīla Sanātana Gosvāmī himself including a deep purport of that commentary)

“Alas, this is a matter of great grief! From childhood, Śrī Kṛṣṇa personally kept grazing the cows of those heartless gopas, and despite tolerating that pain, he stayed put in Vraja.” The word acyuta (infallible) hints at this in this unusual verse.
