Utpādayati (उत्पादयति).—with object citta, saṃjñā, manasikāra, or the like, produces an intention, resolution (compare cittot- pāda): cittam, Mahāvastu i.38.10; 80.4 (to become a Buddha); iii.138.8; Kāraṇḍavvūha 12.16; 27.12 (read -cittam utpādayanti); 59.20; ppp., spṛhācittam utpāditam abhūt Saddharmapuṇḍarīka 101.5; manasikāram, Saddharmapuṇḍarīka 72.15, duḥkhamanasikārasaṃjñām, Saddharmapuṇḍarīka 78.5; bhūtasaṃjñām, Vajracchedikā 22.10, 18.
