This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 43.1

एषो ते तक्षशिलायां स्थितो पादफलखण्डणो ।
यदि सि न मरितुकामो ओसक्क मम राज्यतो ॥ १ ॥

eṣo te takṣaśilāyāṃ sthito pādaphalakhaṇḍaṇo |
yadi si na maritukāmo osakka mama rājyato || 1 ||

Here I am at Benares, and yet your footstool is in pieces. If you do not want to die, withdraw from my kingdom. (1)
